My favorite season is here...
Autumn
sigh
Even the word feels good in my mouth.
I'm always amazed when my students ask,
"What's Autumn?'
What? You haven't heard it called Autumn?
Autumn is the same as Fall.
"Oh, Fall. I know Fall.
Why do you call it Autumn?
I don't know. I just always have.
I guess because it's prettier.
"Hunh. I guess it is. Ok, I'll call it Autumn, too.
Mrs. Lawson? I love Autumn, same as you."
smile.
hug.
Let's go outside. Shall we?

Autumnal is one of my very best words and I wait all year to use it, autumnal smells being my very favorite.
I have wondered why both words to describe this beautiful season. When I use Autumn I wonder if people will know it is the same as Fall. Autumn is so much prettier, I do agree.
Autumn is my favorite time, too! I've been singing it's praises this week as well. :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

Autumn love,

That's so true! I also like to use 'autumn' instead of 'fall.' Autumn is more regal and beautiful, while fall has a negative connotation. Anyway, if I had to pick a favorite season it would be 'autumn' too.
George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans): "Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."
@Relyn I Love Autumn too Mrs Lawson :D it's the feel that the feel comes with, I think it's more to do with the fact that it ushers in the winters, the festive times, the snow, the smell of baking.
And the pic is beautiful
Relyn, this made me laugh! Since moving to Scotland over 20 years ago, I have tried to hold on to a few American things (such as my accent), including the word "fall"! I love using the word fall, whereas people here just say autumn. Actually, both are good. "Autumnal" is irreplaceable - you can't have "fallish" or "fallal" can you?
Glorious photo of red orange leaves.
I love the sound of "autumn," too, Relyn. And I have to tell you that this photograph is absolutely gorgeous. You captured the beauty of the season perfectly!
