And, guess what? I won! Now, every time I look at my beautiful new painting, I'll think of my wonderful adventures in Egypt and of the kindness of strangers. Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

of plums and delight
My dear friend, Gigi, was hosting a giveaway for this gorgeous painting by Elizabeth Floyd.
I really wanted to win because I have a funny affinity for plums. Years ago when I was in Egypt. We were at a dinner and this very kind Egyptian gentleman was slicing up these delicious fruits for me. They were SO GOOD! I asked him what they were called and he said peaches. Please don't think I'm a total ding dong when I tell you that I spent years looking all over America for purple peaches. (Can you tell my family wasn't big on fresh fruit?) Then one day, Jeffrey, my love, brought me a fresh plum and sliced it up. Eureka! My purple peaches had been plums all along.
And, guess what? I won! Now, every time I look at my beautiful new painting, I'll think of my wonderful adventures in Egypt and of the kindness of strangers. Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

It looks good enough to eat pure and simple....:)
What a great sotry to go along with a great win. It's like some people in the states that call any soda or pop a "coke", hah. I bet you had everyone on the search for purple peaches, hah.
A plum by any other name... What a lovely painting and just perfect for you.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving, Relyn.
I think it's great that you won this.... It's absolutely gorgeous! I love the story that goes with it. Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful painting and beautiful story. Wishing you a Happy and blessed Thanksgiving!
I love that story!
And congrats on your prize . . .
Congratulations! I am so glad it has your home to reside, though secretly I was hoping to win. It is a beautiful painting.
Haha! Perhaps the Egyptian gentleman had a slight problem with his English. I had to smile imagining you searching for these mystery fruits for years. I'm glad you finally rediscovered them. In Pershore, in Worcestershire, in England, there is a plum festival every year. It's in a plum growing district and there are all kinds of beautiful varieties not only available in stores but people also grow them in their gardens and sell them at the side of the road.
How I love the idea of a purple peace! Go, Jeffrey! You rock!
