Everything Ordinary

Learn to write about the ordinary. Give homage to old coffee cups, sparrows, city buses, thin ham sandwiches. Make a list of everything ordinary you can think of. Keep adding to it. Promise yourself, before you leave the earth, to mention everything on your list at least once in a poem, short story, newspaper article.
~ Natalie Goldberg
Or a blog.

Tonight, I am grateful for everything ordinary. I am grateful for the cat on my lap, the movies on the shelf, the mail in the box. I am grateful for the gas station that sells pizza and chicken tenders because there is no fast food in my small town. I am grateful for the sexy heels in the closet and the hiking boots beside them. I am grateful for the watch on my wrist and the pens in the cup. The chili in the bowl. The simple, ordinary life. I celebrate everything that is ordinary.

I took these photographs of ordinary moments.

Yes, ordinary things are so comforting. We don't really notice them until they're not there anymore; then we miss them terribly.

i am comforted by the ordinary things in my life everyday and I try to remember that when things seem a little off. I love your photos. such a sweet little kitty (i love her coloring - so soft) and that's a fantastic powerline shot - one of the best I've ever seen.
This morning in particular I am grateful for my daughter upstairs sleeping in her own bed, the sunshine on this cold day, wood for a fire in the fireplace.

Isn't it amazing how the ordinary is so often looked over. I'm searching for the ordinary this weekend.

I love the image of the high heels and boots side by side! Your photos are awesome - each and every one of them. Your kitty looks a lot like my Chanel did!

The ordinary is where magic really lives. And sometimes we see it.

Good eyes!
