If One Is Good, Two Must Be Better...

When I was preparing my Best Reads of 2008 post, I actually ended up with two lists. Each of the books on this list is a book I read for the second (or even 10th) time in 2008. If you want to read my review of any of these books, click on the goodreads icon in the sidebar.
Relyn's Best Rereads of 2008

10 Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher
9 Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L'Engle
8 Pull of the Moon by Elizabeth Berg
7 Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear
6 Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos
5 Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson
4 Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
3 Secret Scribbled Notebooks by Joanne Hornimann
2 Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
and the winner is....

1 To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
What books do you reread again and again?

Well, since the only books I tend to read over (and over) are children's books (I collect them) I'm going to have to say, Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic. I have however, read The Red Tent twice as well as The Secret Life of Bees and Joy Luck Club!

I must agree To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic that can't be beat. My boys enjoy the Orson Scott Card books. However, all I've read for two years are research books! One day I will again read for enjoyment and fun.

I read Traveling Mercies every year, and also all the Farm in Lucy books by Phyllis Tickle, as they are seasonal. Great list!!

Hi,
Some books I read again and again and get a new perspective each time are:
Of human bondage - Somerset Maugham; and
Through the Looking Glass (Alice in Wonderland) - Lewis Caroll.

However, I also read Bill Bryson's - A walk in the woods, time and again, as I find it very soothing.

Happy reading and good wishes for a great weekend and the week ahead.
Best
Lubna

Hi Relyn~ As a rule I usually don't read too many books more than once, but Elizabeth Berg books I do read twice. I can not get enough of her writing. Pull of the Moon is up there! I actually have 2 friends who read the book and did tha. They got in the car and just drove wherever they felt pulled. They have done that 3 times now and have had some most excellent adventures. Someday I want to join them!

Takes care~

I haven't reread any books lately; I barely give myself time to read a book the first time.

When I was younger I read Jane Eyre quite a few times. The first time I read it was when I was ten, in Dutch. Then I enjoyed rereading it in English, once I was fluent enough. I think I did the same thing with Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca.

I have a funny story about A Wrinkle in Time. When I first came to America at the age of 11, I heard a lot of my classmates raving about the book. I could barely speak English but I wanted to find out what all the hubbub was about. I went to the school library catalog but could never find it and I was too shy to ask. Years later I figured out why I was unsuccessful. I looked under "R" instead of "W".

Bee,
Didn't you just love it? This week I am starting one of yours, Testimony. Do let me know if you read one of these, won't you? I think you would really, really enjoy Not a Box. Oops. That's from my other list. But still.

T.,
I collect children's books, too. Especially gorgeously illustrated fairy tales. I love Shel, obviously. Since you mention The Red Tent in the same breath with two of my favorites, I think I must read it.

Lennye,
Do you ever do audiobooks? Those are one of my most favorite inventions. Ever. Two of my favorite audiobooks are Shadow of the Wind and The Moonstone. But. If you try The Moonstone, you really need to get the Recorded Books version. It is far superior.

Christina,
I have been meaning to read One Hundred Years of Solitude forever. I must move it to the top of my list.

Jessica,
I was just over at your place. So, I know just what you've been reading. I love them both.

Jerusalem,
I'll have to try Phyllis Tickle. I keep hearing about her. Plus, her name delights me.

Lubna,
I adore Through the Looking Glass. Can you believe I have never read any Bill Bryson. What is wrong with me?

Jeanne,
I am not in the least surprised by your rereads. They are all as sweet and whimsical as you are.

Patti,
Forget them. Let's go together instead.

Maddie,
I am going to have to read Einstein's Dreams. After all, you are the one who gave me my number one book this year. Have I said thank you yet? Thank you.

Yolanda,
Yippie!! Do come back and tell me what you think of Adoration. I hope you like it as much as I did. Either way, I want to hear what you think.

Beth,
I still haven't read The Middle Place. I think I must have picked it up one day when I was in a bad mood. I'll try again.

DB,
Will you believe I only read Jane Eyre for the first time last year? I am glad I read it. But. I did not love it. And Rebecca. Oh my. I do love that one. I remember who it drove me crazy when I realized that I didn't know the narrator's name. And then, it bothered me more and more when I kept not knowing the darn narrator's name!

So, when did you read Wrinkle In Time? I so badly wanted to tesser. I'd still like to, actually.

Happy reading, everyone. Thanks so much for sharing your books with me here. I'm headed now to my library's website.

Oldies, but Goodies
