Whaddya Think?

I'm stumped. I'm looking for a few great movies to watch. My Netflix queue has 87 movies on it and nothing is getting me excited. In fact, half of them are movies I've already seen. Plus, you know that I am terrific at picking duds lately. So, I thought I'd ask you to pick for me. How 'bout it? Will you give me a recommendation or two? I'd love to know your favorite movies. Please tell me three, if you will. I want to know your all-time favorite movie, a golden oldie, and a new one you enjoyed. Will you? Pleeeeeeeease???

Since I'm asking, I thought I'd give you mine. But, you know me and favorites. I am constitutionally unable to choose just one favorite of anything, much less an all time favorite. I do love this one. That's the one I put in when I need to cheer up. Or when I am feeling good. Or when I want to sing along. Or when I want to feel like a teenager again. I just love it. My golden oldie pick is not really old, just a classic to me. I completely adore it. As to a new one I've enjoyed. Hmmmm... Well, this one was fun. Not great. Maybe not even all that good. But fun.

OK, your turn. Pretty please? With cherries on top?

my favorite one this year....I actually saw it twice in the theatre.....is "away we go"....I just loved it !!!

500 days of summer was awful....

did you see martian child ? august rush ?....loved both of those so much !

I need to find my "movie list" and send you some more ideas....

xo

August Rush IS good, but I like Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn, too. It's a great old flick. Hm...I also like Gigi. That's a good one, too. Becoming Jane is a semi-sweet movie, but not really realistic.

I don't really watch that many movies. I tend to grab a book most of the time. I just knew your list would be very classic, intelligent films. You have no idea how much I smiled when I saw your first link went to my favorite movie, Dirty Dancing! It is the only movie I actually watch over and over. Sue

Okay let's see ... Golden Oldie? Barefoot in the Park is great for a lot of laughs. Recent movie I enjoyed? Hm. Premonition with Sandra Bullock. Very well done. And all time favorite? Way too many to choose. Enjoy :)

(I sent this once, but it somehow disappeared, so I'm trying again!)

have you ever seen Le Papillon? it's a beautiful film. " and i love "The Holiday"- Jude Law is so attractive in this movie. And for a new one have you seen Bright Star yet?
Taylor was just saying this weekend how much she loved Dirty Dancing.
The Proposal was cute.

I love the oldies more than anything, so I'd have to go with Young At Heart starring Frank Sinatra. One of the most recent movies I've fallen in love with is The Notebook. I have many more if you need more help. :)

So, so hard to choose just a few, but my all-time favorite comedy is probably Moonstruck. I love Big Night, too. Oh, and The Secret of Roan Inish. Those are standbys I go back to again and again.

For more recent films, I liked Lars and the real Girl, Danny Deckchair, and Dan in Real Life.

And you know another one that's always just sweet to watch is Greenfingers. Clive Owen. How bad can that be?

Okay, that's way more than three. Sorry! I thought it was cute that Elyse mentioned Gigi. I was actually named after that film. I can't tell you the number of times that men of a certain age have broken into "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" when they've met me." Ugh.

I'm with you about being disappointed by most movies these days. I usually rent TV series now instead.

I haven't seen The Proposal, but like the other two. I have been wanting to watch Enchanted April once more. I just need to find it.

OK, so if you are looking for oldies then my absolute favorite is "Now Voyager" with Bette Davis and Paul Henreid. It is my ab fab. Tears, misunderstandings, love, happy ending. It has them all.

Hmmm . . . The Philadelphia Story is pretty fabulous (quite yar!), Water is gorgeous and heartbreaking, Midnight Train if you have a penchant for quirky things, and of course, chick flicks - Serendipity, Spanglish, Practical Magic - or is that Impractical Magic, with Sandra Bullock. LOL!. Chocolat is going in the DVD this am, as I have the day off to photograph. Oh!!! And, of course, Amelie. The best! I mean, besides To Kill a Mockingbird. I could go on and on . . . .

My two favorite feel good movies:
Little Women and Chocolat

A recent-ish one I liked:
Last Holiday.
I was going to say the Proposal - but I see it's already on your list :-)

Any Audrey Hepburn but especially "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window". Grace Kelly was perfection in that movie!

I recently saw "Julie and Julia". It was very entertaining, especially the Julia part.

I just saw The Soloist and I highly recommend it!

There is nothing like Natl Lampoon's Christmas Vacation to get one ready for the holidays.

Pretty much any Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly or Carey Grant movie will work for my Golden Oldie's.

Most anything with Audrey or Natalie
Old School Robert Redford (Barefoot in the Park, The Sting, The Natural, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid)

I have to start by saying I watch way too many movies to have an all time favourite. I am racking my brains to pick just one. One that I saw again just recently was Moonstruck. I love that line where Ronnie says "the snowflakes are perfect the stars are perfect, not us, we are here to make mistakes and ruin ourselves and break our hearts and love the wrong people ..... I love that line!

Hmm, a golden oldie, I'm a huge Hitchcock fan so I'll have to go with Rear Window.

The most recent movie that I saw and loved was Amal. Loved his character and the gentleness of it.

Oldies, but Goodies
