Christmas Eve

Thinking of how many things there are still to do.
Then thinking again that a little bit more time here with my friends in blogland is what I really need.

Thinking grumpy thoughts about school districts that don't let you out until December 23rd.
Then thinking grateful thoughts about having a job I love and friends I love to share it with.

Wishing our VCR hadn't broken so we could watch Sloane watch Home Alone for the first time.
Then wishing I'd never forget the magic of laughing with an eight year old. Thank God for laughter. And for cheap DVDs.

Thinking of delicious Christmasy things like the three wheelbarrow loads of wood we hauled into the garage. There is four to eight inches of snow foretasted for tonight. It will be the first Christmas snow in these parts in nine years.

Grinning as Sloane wiggles and says, "Momma, you didn't forget to buy my Christmas pajamas did you?"

Feeling refreshed after my quiet morning among you all. Feeling ready to don my elf hat and tackle that to do list. Christmas is nearly here, my friends! Yippie!!

And, in case I don't see you tomorrow,

Merry Christmas to you and yours from all of us in Team Lawson.

Merry Christmas to you, my dear sweet Relyn. I've loved you since before I even saw you. When your mom told me you were born, I couldn't wait to hold you. I loved all the Christmases that you spent with us and I hope this one is a very special one with your own little girl, who is my jewel. Give Jeffrey and Sloane a big hug for me and keep one for yourself. I love the things you said in your post today! Grammy

Oh Relyn. A white Christmas and Sloane is old enough to remember. When she is all grown up and still sleeping in Christmas pajamas, she will sit by her own fire and remember.

Yo have been a gift and a blessing all year. Merry. merry Christmas to you and yours.

Relyn, YOU are such a bright spot in my world! It is so nice to hear a teacher say such good things about teaching.... as a fairly new teacher (five years teaching 8th-grade English), I feel overwhelmed at times and work way, way, too many hours trying to do more and help more.... My husband isn't even sure I like teaching (!).... so, when I hear your love for teaching, it makes me feel better about my decision to teach.

Lucky you to have all of that snow coming your way! We rarely see snow where I live, and when we do, it's definitely not going to be at Christmas. Maybe February or even March, but not in December!

I had to put my elf hat on today and finish some shopping, having been in bed with a bad cold the last two days.... It was fun to get out and finish things up. (Christmas pj's for my girl were still on my list.)

Blessings and peace,

Roban

P.S. I made my Christmas card at www.scrapblog.com. I love their program and have made several electronic scrapbooks. My kids at school have used the program to for some of their projects. There are free backgrounds, stickers, etc., where you don't have to pay a dime. (They added things that you do have to pay for, but you can still create great pages for free.)

I have a few links on my page to some of my scrapblogs. I'll try to send you the link straight to my books if you want to take a look.

Merry, merry Christmas, Relyn, Jeffrey and Sloane!

Hi Relyn,

I hope the elf hat worked a treat and your days have been filled with fun and laughter. Thanks for the kind words about my poetry - but you weave wonderful word poems yourself all the time.

Happy holidays to you all!

Relyn, I hope your Christmas was wonderful!

My daughter is 14 and she still reminds me that we need to buy her Christmas pj's to wear on Christmas Eve night! Her birthday is December 12th, so that is always one of her birthday gifts!
