The Bright Side Project

Do you know about the Bright Side Project? Oh, it's the most wonderful blog. You've got to go check it out. Then come back and visit me. OK?

So. You're back. When I first discovered the blog, the question was this: If you had a magic datebook where you could re-live one of the days of your lives, which day would it be and why?
I spent an hour reading all the wonderful answers people gave. I just love a thought provoking question. Don't you? So, if you could relive just one day in your life, which one would it be?
Here's mine:
I’m afraid I’ve spent nearly an hour reading all these wonderful answers. I’ve also been lost in my own happy memories, trying to pick the single day I’d do again. There have been so many wonderful days. My sixteenth birthday party was absolutely magical, but I’m going to have to go with my wedding day. I was one of those little girls who had been planning her wedding since she was five or six. My wedding day was absolutely everything I could have dreamed of. It was thrilling, gorgeous, and so very full of love. Everyone most precious to me was there. Everyone was happy and excited for us. I look back at the seventeen year old pictures and know we were just babies then. But, all the promise we can see reflected on those young faces still live in our nearly 40 year old eyes. We love each other more today than we could have dreamed of on that day. My wedding day.
Still. The best day of my life. Ever.

Oh Relyn... were we living parallel lives? I look back on my 17 year old marriage with 40+ eyes and see the same. I love how you described it as thrilling and gorgeous. I was thinking thrilling more in a roller coaster sort of way. I think that is the way it will always be.
I also would say that the day that I had each of my children was amazing. I want to go back and hold them one more time. I have not taken enough pictures and I don't scrapbook, but I lived it, and it was wondrous.

I love the Bright Side Project too. And if you like those questions, you should stop by and read Ivy League Insecurities.

Enjoy the day!

Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful blog! I hadn't seen it before. I love your memory of your wedding day. My wedding was wonderful and beautiful, but tinged with a lot of sadness, too, because of some events surrounding it, so it's not the day I would choose. Instead, I'd choose a day when my husband and I were first dating, and we played hooky from one of our college classes to go out to lunch together and wander some of the beautiful, historic, cobbled streets of our city. I fell head over heels that day, and I've never looked back all these nearly 20 years.

Thanks for sending my mind back there today, my friend.

hugs,
Gigi

so to re-live it because it was so wonderful....devils advocate on my shoulder.....what about a day to re-live because it was awful and you want a do-over ?

just saying/asking....

I think I'll have to get back to you on this one, as there are way too many choices....

Thank you for introducing me to The Bright Side Project. What a fascinating question and something I've never thought about. Hmmm...I have so many days I'd like to relive for various reasons, some because they were so sublime and others because I'd like to change them. Right off the top of my head I'd choose the first time I saw it snow on Cape Cod. My daughter and I raced to the beach to see the snow melt into the ocean. It was just one of those lovely firsts that ended up to be a day of wonder.

Hmmm...it's hard to narrow it down to one day. But if I could just choose any day (not a particularly monumental one) it would have to be when I was 11 or so and we went to Assateague Island for a family vacation. It wasn't specifically one day, but I remember walking down the beach and having a herd of wild horses come up to me and walk with me. It was so magical.

Dear Relyn, how wonderful that after all these years you feel the way you do, being more in love today than even then! I hope it last the rest of your lives and you can look back many years from now and say the same thing. I'm so glad that you and Jeffrey found each other. You have always been a special part of my life and so has Jeffrey since he came into the family. I love you both.

Thanks for the intro to this blog--it looks like fun!

As for reliving a day--I think I would pick a casual day when my children were small and I could hold them close and savor those chubby little cheeks and sweet voices. I love the adults they have become, but I would love to see those babies once again!

The day I said, "No." to God...I would have that day over and say, "Yes."...

...Thank God for His redemption, but that "no" left a lot of heartache in my wake, for me and others...

God mercifully brought me back to that place of decision, and out of a broken humble heart I answered, "Yes."......

...He has restored my life so beautifully and mercifully, but, it is still something that pains me...that moment of unfaithfulness, that willful rejection of the Lover of my soul...and I can't help but wonder sometimes what Plan A looked like...and if it breaks His heart too........

What a fun site--thanks for introducing us to it, Relyn! And what an interesting topic This questions is a hard one for me to answer too. Because nearly all of the very BIG moments in my life have had have a lacing of sadness attached to the, with difficulties leading up to, during or after these big occasion--everything from my sweet 16, my high school graduation, my wedding day, etc. If I could go back, I would go back to the few days when in London when hubby & I were on our honeymoon--it was sooo sweet and exciting a time. But I suppose I'm not really interesting in going back in time. I am happy and content with memories. The now is the sweetest... Happy Weekend :o) ((HUGS))

There really are so many times I would want to re-live. There are some times I would like to tweak as well, like maybe putting Molly at our wedding day, so all those who have passed away but were there on that magic day, could have met her; especially, my Dad! Can't wait to go and scheck out that blog! Thanks for sharing!

And I love your answer to the question, If you could relive just one day in your life, which one would it be? The love you have for your husband and daughter is apparent in all of your posts.

Relyn, this really got me to thinking. I'd like to relive my 9th birthday. We were living in Rome at the time and my mother woke me up early. We tiptoed out of the apartment and went out to a breakfast then shopping. I got the most beautiful pair of red shoes that day. They were handmade specifically for me. I also got a little rd purse, round in shape and filled with little dolls. And of course, I had my mom all to myself. Which was the best treat of all.
