being a part of something bigger

What is it about this video that has you crying?, you might ask.
Who on Earth would cry at this?, the sane among you are probably wondering.
Well.

That would be me.
Me.
I'm crying at this video.

Not sure why, except to say that I always tear up when something moves me.
I always get misty eyes and a lump in my throat anytime something touches me.
Every time something touches me.

So? Why this?
Well, first, it is completely cool. Completely.
Just like Oprah said, "That is the coolest thing EVER."

But, I think I really get choked up because it's about cooperation.
And fun and playfulness.
And about being a part of something bigger than yourself.

And, really. Wouldn't the world be better, so much better
if we were all willing to take a little time to be a part of something
bigger than ourselves?

Like a flash mob, being a part of something bigger
might simply create a good memory for the participants.
But, it might also do something more.

Something like
providing clean water to people who've never had it.
Or, bringing hope and cheer to strangers.

Wherever your passions take you...
Whatever your tears, your excitement, your interests compel...
Be a part of something bigger today.

Well, I didn't cry, and at the beginning, I thought "what's with that girl in the front?" And then it spread and it WAS so cool!

Relyn,
I'm not a crier. But I do get emotional with hallmark card commercials and such. As this video went on I found myself getting teary eyed too! Glad I was not the only one. I think it is about everyone working together too!

I know! I love this video. And I'm not a huge Oprah fan (I tend to ignore her recommendations now she annoys me so much) but I can't help myself with this video. Positive energy at it's finest!

I think that being a part of the blogging community is definitely being part of something bigger. I am always touched by the kindness I find here in blogland.

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments you left for me today. They were all very heart warming. Remember the blog post about my friend Diane....I learned today that she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer...don't know all of the details yet, but I sure would appreciate it if you would keep her in your prayers. Now I am crying.....but remember what you said about getting in touch with old friends.....I think it would be great if you did. love you!!!!

oh, girl.
this one slays me every time.
i'm not much one for the black eyed peas and i'm a little angry they staged this awesomeness so that i can no longer hate the song so much. but i just rewatched this the other day when i needed to be reminded that sometimes life really is that great.

This is the first time I've heard the song and seen it done as well. I loved that everyone was participating together. I really believe that that's what is so touching...working together for a common cause.

Right now, my passion, aside from my family, is working for the relaunch of my Christian women's magazine and working with my sister on our children's book.

I cry when something is touching...I didn't cry watching this but I did feel touched by it.

I just love this song and what they did. I think it's fantastic to have something that is happy and united...it's a joy to watch.

This doesn't make me cry. But I had seen the youtube video of "Do a Deer" in Antwerp station, which is similar (but I think WAY better!), and that DID make me cry! So I get you. :o)

Oh good... I'm not the only one! When I was in high school my mom surprised me with tickets to see Maya Angelou. I started crying the minute she walked up on stage ... and all I could see was the top of her turban. :)

Oh, jeez Relyn...now you have ME sitting here crying over a BEP's video!! ;)

I never used to be a 'crier' until recently. These days I mist up over books, movies, music, photographs. I embrace my new teary-eyed self. Being truly alive means that you are able to FEEL deeply.

such a good word, Relyn.....your writing always hits the spot for me.....

...guess I've been feeling that lately....just wanting to live a meaningful life, a full life....sometimes I feel a little confined, like a butterfly cooped up in a cocoon....I hope it's that and not "a bug caught in a jar"....

I long to fly........

Thank you! I loved that video and have seen it a couple times. It is amazing the cooperation it took to do. I love thinking about following our passion.

Oh, I'm such a crier too. But I'd rather feel than not, even if I feel too much sometimes.

I love this video as well for all the reaons oyu and the others mentioned, BUT also for the fact that I got to watch it in class on our huge screen while one of my students kept pointing and saying "that's me and my Dad" and giving us a narration of the whole process and dance...coolest thing ever!

Oldies, but Goodies
