summer, so far

Week 18 of the Wednesday Lists
an illustrated list of my first three weeks of summer

so far I have...

been visiting bookshops

taken the time to really enjoy sunsets

recovered our dining room chairs with my mama

visited Eureka Springs with Jeffrey's mama, aunt, and Sloane

watched and cheered as Sloane learned to ride a bike

enjoyed a beautiful wedding

been thrilled by my first photoshoot

visited Laura Ingalls Wilder's home and museum and cried over Pa's fiddle

finished day 1 of Creativity Boot Camp

I've also...

* discovered the world's cutest bakery * spent the day getting lost with a great friend * had another girlfriend over for brunch and chat * sweltered during Sloane's swimming lessons * cleaned out my pretties closet and the laundry room * visited the library at least three times each week * taken Sloane on a girlfriend day * read 16 magazines cover to cover * watched way too many episodes of Bones on Netflix * been ready to toss the computer out the window when Blogger quit working for two days * had a second photoshoot (I just love teenagers!) * scheduled the date for our first summer book club * had Jeffrey's parents for a nice, long visit * slept in * enjoyed a fish fry * laughed a lot * relaxed a lot * played a lot *

Thank God it's summer! What have you been up to?

Your chairs are so great! I just redid my dining set, too. I love the red with the green you chose!

And I am addicted to Bones on Netflix. I found it 3 weeks ago and am already in the middle of season 2. At least I usually exercise while watching, but I'm in love with it.

What an amazing start to summer! I think this promises to be a wonderful season for you - full of growth and fun and goodness and newness and laughter - I love that laughter is always on your list!

Savor it all!

all these wonderful things...bliss!
I've one more week at work before the summer holidays begin; today I spent the day in the schoolyard with all my classes, playing things like 'what time is it, Mr Wolf?', 'Simon says' 'the Harry Potter game' and many more; it was great fun.

Another Laura Ingalls Wilder fan?!! I should have known. I have been to Pepin- Little House in the Big Woods, Independence- Little House on the Prairie, and Mansfied--the last home and resting place. I still want to go to DeSmet. I met a family taking in all the homes on a vacation tour. I thought that was pretty cool!

Not surprisingly, you've packed so many wonderful things into a short time. Love, love your photos, too. We've had house guests until this morning so catching up and preparing for a photography extravaganza over the next month. Hope to SEE YOU! xo – g

Hi Relyn,

I reckon those last three pastimes are the best! Plus your creativity boot camp! Can't wait to see what that produces.

What a great list my dear and what a lot of wonderful things done and celebrated! Thanks for yesterday ~ it really was a gift! And I really loved your french toast! Blessings for many more fabulous items to be added to your summer list!

Summer has been always my favourite season because of the warm weather that lets you enjoy the long sunny days and the long starry nights with plenty of beautiful things to do..... Have a lovely weekend!

Oh, I want to visit Laura Ingall's house! You are so lucky!! My husband would have particular interest in the fiddle (he fiddles, too).

Our summer so far has been...well, not yet. Our kids are in year-round school, which means they're in class for another month or so. But we do squeeze in swim time on weekends, playdates, and potty training (our 3 yr old).

PS: The recovered dining room chairs are gorgeous!!

You count your magazines?

How is that you make the normal seem so lovely?

Hi, I came here out of a recommendation from "Patchwork Chronicles". Sounds like your having a great summer! I live about 45 minutes from Eureka Springs! Was the world's cutest bakery there?

Relyn Lawson said...

Rhonda,

Thanks for coming over. Isn't Beth so generous and kind? No, the bakery isn't in Eureka Springs, though I did find a perfect shop there. Something Simple - do you know it? The bakery is in Kansas City at Briarcliff Village.

Since sunsets like the one in this post often elude me, photographically speaking that is, it's so great to know I can look at yours and visualize myself sitting somewhere in an Adirondack chair watching the sun set.

I can't believe how early school gets out for you! I still have a few days left! Summer begins for me in 2.5 days. And I couldn't be more impatient for it.
Looks like you are enjoying these first summer days, but then again, you find a way to enjoy every day, every moment that you can! Even in the dead of winter, you find the sunlight. I love that about you.

Oldies, but Goodies
