When I was about Sloan's age, I said something really similar to my mother about the strange nature of time. She brings it up, often, as the years get shorter and shorter.
We have two more weeks of "summer," but it's starting to feel like fall here.
btw, is that a new backpack? (You gotta have a new backpack and lunchbox, right?)
They are so very short. In a couple of weeks, I'll be saying 12th grade, 9th grade and 8th grade already??? It goes by very, very quickly. :(
those first day of school photos are so fun to look back on. Sloan looks hesitant to be heading back- hating to leave summer behind but looking forward to new learning experiences and her school friends?
Happy First Day, Sloan! (she's so beautiful)
I can even tell from a distance how much more grown up she looks...hang in there mom, you will get through it!
I remember my children going off to 3rd grade. It seemed like such a transitional year for them. Savor each moment for yest so soon you will be watching her take steps away from you to join in her own life. Waiting right now for my little girl to come by for a cup of tea and a chat. Oh how I relish those few moments.
What a beautiful young lady! It DOES go by incredibly fast, doesnt it????
"gone in a blink" short......
First day of school photos are my favorite! She looks beautiful and ready to start a new year.
But I sure hate how fast they grow up, too. My daughter is going into 5th grade! YIKES!
i so agree - adorable shot
So true. So true. She is beautiful! xxoo
Relyn,
Truly this is so true. Cherish each day and the years as they speed along.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Oh, my goodness.. How grown up Miss Sloane is looking these days! Love her sweet, short hair cut. Hope she has a great school year. :o) ((HUGS))
Treasure every golden moment
She's got that cherished look
about her....a girl who knows
she is loved:)

my daughter is on my blog today ..sloan is just so cute ..and ready!
moms on the other hand....I am walking with you this week knowing you will with me
She looks so sweet and eager for school...as it should be
summer wrapped in a bundle of memories
....and they only go faster and faster and faster...
What a precious, lovely girl, Relyn. The years are short but I know you and she cherish every second which is what counts. Happy new school year! xo – g
She is adorable! Where does the time go?
Hugs,

Adorable! Back to school is such a sweet and bittersweet time! I know you'll be enjoying every minute!

You can say that again, mine is headed for grade 6 this year, can't believe it!
xoxo
I hope Sloane's having fun but I'm glad I'm not way back there!
The days are long, but the years are short.
It aches to think about it (and read about it) but it's so true.
This is a lovely photo of your bright third-grader :)
And it seems the older I get, the faster time flies. Thankfully, the older I get, the more I enjoy small, individual moments ...
I can hardly believe it's time for school to being again. She looks so grown up!
My verification word is "resset."
So many words from that -- reset. rest. Good words to remember in the fall.
Not a mom, but an aunt who cannot believe her only niece has just begun 8th grade. We went shopping alone together (well, with another friend of mine)for the first time a few weeks ago and had a ball.
I love the emerging woman, but miss the baby, miss the little girl.
Hugs to you!!
:) Debi
Hurray for Sloane! Back to school - already. Our nephews in Kentucky started school on August 10 - isn't that crazy? Isn't that still summer? Anyway, Sloane, I hope you have the most amazing year in third grade.
i see so much of a young woman in this picture. what a stunning display of emergence.
She is growing up so fast! But those sweet little freckles will keep her young forever. xo
