ahhh... the quiet

This week is one of my most favorite times of the year.
I call it my peaceful week.

The rush of Christmas, with it's wonderful excitement, has passed.
The tingle of anticipation for a new year is just beginning.

Just now there is quiet.
Everything is still lit, bedecked, and dazzling.
But, there is a quiet contentment to it.

This is my week.
No students, no shopping, no hustle, no bustle.

Just time.
Time to laugh with friends, time to play with family.
Time to read. Time to write. Time to reflect on the year just passed.

Oh. I do love this time of year.

May your week be as peaceful, my friends.

Yes. I agree, a wonderful week for teachers :) Unfortunately, I have to go back to work tomorrow. Next year I'll have to plan a vacation this time of year because I really, really need this time off. Or maybe I should just go back to teaching ... it's that time of the year, considering options and choices in the new year. Have a blessed week!

I'm with you! Festive but quiet. And I do love that New Year's coming feel. So many forks in the road. So many options, so many choices. May all your choices be easy and fruitful this coming year.
Much love Relyn,
Kirsten

I love it, too. Sunday we just sat by the fire, listening to new music and pouring over our new books with egg nog and goodies. Perfect!!

At the weekend we will do our planning for the new year, including trips.

Wishing you and your family a beautiful week, dear Relyn! xo – g

Thank you so much Relyn for your sweet comments on my blog. Wow, it made my day. I so enjoy your blog and the words you post.
I am so "into" this week as well. It will be hard heading back to school next week. I love having time to visit with my family and friends.
Also the time to just relax is just what I need.....more ways than one, since I broke my toe (s) last night. Oh well, you take the good with the bad, right.
Sending you (((((HUGS))))) Peace and Joy for the
New Year.

Relyn,
I've been thinking along these very same lines myself. As a child, I thought that the post-Xmas week was so dreary, but for a mother, it is BLISS. Christmas, no matter how much you love it, is a heck of a lot of work.

I've filled this week, maybe a bit too much, with friends coming to stay . . . which means lots of cooking and cleaning. I would like one day with nothing in it but my NEW BOOKS. So looking forward to another great year of reading and sharing with you, friend.

Thank you for the kind words on Christmas Day. xx

What a wonderful way to end the year... with a period of quiet time to do all those things that will help you reflect on the past year. I love your way with words!

Have a quiet, restful & wonderful week of YOU!

I go to work tomorrow, but can appreciate the time off that I did have.

Happy New Year in case I don't get round this way for a bit.

Stunning photo, and you're so right about this inbetween week being so special. The lull before (and after) the storm.

Enjoy this quiet time, the madness will start again soon!

So true, I am really taking it easy as much as possible (with bursts of work and socializing mixed in). Glad to hear you are relaxing and reflecting, this is the perfect time to do it and I find myself doing quite a bit of thinking and re-organizing. Lots of love to you Relyn in the coming year, so happy to have met you!

Absolutely agree...I am in heaven this week. Work all done. Nothing on the horizon. Christmas over, snow on the ground, music, idle time, reading, lots of tea, snowshoeing when I feel like it.

Dear Relyn.
I have nominated you for a Beautiful Blogger Award and one of my top three bloggers of 2010 :)
If you accept the award you have to pass it on to three others, if you don't want to receive it, that is also ok.

What a perfect image and yes, it is peaceful and quiet, isn't it. Well, for me it is cuz I'm stuck home sick, so I can't even be my normal at-home always-doing self. And you know what? It has its benefits -- and not just the physical healing ones.

Nice to catch up with you and wishing you belated Christmas wishes and a wonderful new year.

Sounds absolutely delicious

in the peace

My time comes later
when the kids go back to college
and January wraps around me
with it's quiet.
So thanks for sharing yours:)
