Welcoming Spring

Week 35 of the Wednesday lists.
Like many people I have certain rituals I use to welcome in a new season.

the coming spring

Each year in early spring I...
~ begin rereading Enchanted April on April 1st.
~ celebrate the first daffodil by calling my mother-in-law to tell her about it.
~ buy the first bunch of tulips I spot at the grocery store.
~ clean off my desk top, empty all the drawers and give everything a good cleaning. Then, I reorganize, cull, and put it back with a little breathing room.
~ resume our nightly family walks.
~ make time for a photo walk that lasts all day.
~ go shopping with my Mom and daughter for a new Easter outfit.
~ visit Susanna to see her Easter bonnet parade.
~ throw open all the windows, even if I have to add a few quilts to the bed.
~ smile when Jeffrey brings me the first Cadbury Egg of the season.
~ go shopping for a new nail polish and then get a pedicure.
~ reread Secret Garden.
~ get the urge to redecorate and settle for switching out all the vases, pillows and linens.
~ eat outside.
~ swing and swing and swing.

Sounds lovely. I love that the weather is getting better and the sun is coming out even if it's still cold.

LOVE your spring rituals, Relyn! Especially The Enchanted April! Cadbury Egg... can't recall when I had one of those last, don't have 'em here. I should go home for Easter sometime. At the moment I'm loving spring cleaning... it's helping me think spring! ;o) Happy Day ((HUGS))

Nice list--but it's way too early for spring here (one can always hope, however). Love the daffodil and the Collins poem from earlier this week, also. Thanks!

As always, love your lists and the fact that you take the time to write them, savor them and DO them!

Can you really eat outside in spring? March has come in like the lion of winter here . . . and it's actually colder than it was in January! I mostly celebrate spring by buying bouquets of my favorite flowers: daffodils, hyacinths and tulips.

I've done a spring cleaning, too, but mostly because we are getting the house ready to go on the market.

Love your list, though, and I'm thinking that I should have more spring rituals. (p.s. The Secret Garden is one of my very favorite books.)

I haven't read Secret Garden in so long! Although it already feels like spring here I love the actual change of the seasons.. I need some springtime rituals!

I occasionally have the urge to wash walls in spring (not that I always do it). The sun shines in and I can see the brown drops of water (the dog likes to shake off inside) on the walls.

Secret Garden! Totally a spring read. I need to read that again.

We are not to spring yet here, but your list has me day dreaming and looking forward to it.

Yeah!!! Yay for everything on your list (and thank you for the nod and link, my friend). I'll start making this year's Easter bonnet soon.

We're still a couple weeks away from daffodils - lucky you for finding one already blooming in your neck of the woods. And like you, I'll be picking up a bouquet of bright red tulips at the grocery store as soon as they arrive.

Your descriptions of nightly family walks and throwing open all the windows even though it might still be chilly outside has me dreaming of summer, Relyn. Oh I can't wait for that to happen!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family.

You are ahead of us , but I hear you on the fresh starts, the celebrating, the embracing.
It's the best.

Eating outside is one of my very favourite things to do.

and I'll check the links above, thank you.

I recently got myself the most beautifully illustrated edition of The Secret Garden. I have been saving it. And I think it is almost time to delve into it.

Oldies, but Goodies
