Why Don't You...

... decorate your closet as though it were a room designed for pampering?
... buy wooden and padded hangers and treat your clothing well?
... get rid of the clothing that doesn't flatter your body?
... hang pretty little bags full of lavender from three or four hangers?
... keep a squirt bottle of Febreeze handy?
... install a pretty hook on the back of the door? Use it to hold your clothing for the next day.
... paint the walls a color you'd be afraid to use in public rooms? Pink is always flattering.
... wallpaper the walls in something outrageous?
... install a pretty light fixture?
... buy an incredibly beautiful rug?
... make your own shoe sachets out of vintage hankies and pretty ribbon? Fill them with lavender to go with your closet sachets.
... move the laundry hamper to a well-ventilated spot?
... hang a framed full-length mirror on the back wall?
... drape your best necklaces on the corners of that mirror?

The wallpaper above is by artist Ximena Escobar. The link is above.

WOW--not that is a closet! A closet for pampering... that is a dream! In our old house, we're lucky to have closet space at all... LOL! I like the idea of painting my clothes closet with a bright, cheerful color on the inside though. ;o) Happy Week lovely, Relyn ((HUGS))

All great ideas and beautiful shot of a neat closet. I always love to get rid of things that don't fit or are negative to me somehow. It's a great feeling. It would be a wonderful feeling to go into your closet and be welcomed as a pampering place.

I hadn't thought of doing this, but oh so fun. I would just love a pink closet with a rug. I do spray lavender spray in my linen cupboard and now I will spray it in the closet too. I think I must clean my closet right now. Scarves do hang inside the closet door.

This is a great post for me to read. I have two closets in this old farmhouse. One is full to the brim of Christmas decorations, stuff stored for my grown kids, clothes etc.
The other is in my bedroom, the only new room in the house. When we remodeled it, I did not want a closet because it would take up space where I wanted to put a chair. I was outvoted.
The thing is they never finished it and it has been a source of frustration ever since.
I am taking back my closet! Thanks for the ideas.

What an idea! Right now my closet is more of an abstract sculpture - this could be just what I need!

Thanks for the inspiration!

I like your suggestions for the closet. I never have thought past having it organized. I do have a walk in closet that has a small diamond pane window. That should be inspiration, don't you think?

I love this post! I feel exactly this way about closets, too. I can't paint the ones where I live right now since we're renting, but I do use only wooden hangers, and I do hang sachets. And I always hang necklaces on mirrors and bedposts. Bling for the bedroom! I just did a clean out of the closets, too. Boy, did that feel wonderful.

Oh, Relyn, you and I are soul sisters, indeed! xoxo

But where would my husband put his things? I've pretty much taken over our walk-in anyway. Isn't this pretty? I organize my clothes by color and that helps, but it is much too full to look this nice. I do need to start getting rid of more things! I really love how this looks!

Sue, I kicked my husband out and his closet is now in the guest room. You could try that. ;^)

I laughed aloud when I saw you comment about kicking Jeffrey out- been there done that and I also NOW have the guest room closet too...(hey he has simple needs). Great ideas!!! My fav is the pretty hool for tomorrow's clothes- I do that and it saves so much stress in the morning. I also get everything out accessory wise too!

we are renovating at the moment well painting and redecorating and my bedroom is one on the list. Tiny wardrobe though last house had a wardrobe you could line dance in if you were that way inclined. love that wallpaer

Is that your closet?! It is the most beautiful room ever.

I am working on the "getting rid of not-flattering clothing" bit. Apparently it takes years. ;)

Love this, Relyn. I feel rather inadequate – we have separate closets but nothing on the scale of this. But we're going to build a studio for me so my props closet could resemble this! :) love, – g

Simple ideas to make a place your own...I leave some Christmas ornaments up all year.

Good ideas, Relyn. It's getting to be that time of year when we can pack away all the black clothing and bring out happy colours. I'm determined to go through every inch of my apartment this spring and donate, sell or throw out anything I never use or wear.

Somehow or other I have never painted the inside of our closets...we were always in too much of a hurry to move in...I think this may be on the agenda very soon!

Love your lists Relyn!

mmm...lavender...one of my ultimate favourite scents. Pretty soon, I will be able to pluck small sprigs and carry them with me on my walks.

Oldies, but Goodies
