After the Storm

before the tornadoes

By now I'm sure you've heard about the tornadoes in Joplin,
a small city about 50 miles away from us.

golden light

There are no words for such sorrow.
No words.
My heart is heavy tonight.

sunset fields

I keep praying.
Keep thanking God as more and more family and friends are reported safe.
Keep praying.

after the storm

It's the only thing that helps.

I was thinking of you today, Relyn, and hoping that you and your family and friends were safe and sound after the recent tornadoes. Yes, it's so sad. It sounds like everyone in Joplin and the surrounding area did what they were supposed to but there just wasn't enough time. Some things are beyond our control. I'm sending up prayers for everyone there, too.

I was shocked by the devastation I saw pictured on the morning news.
So sad.

Your mom sent me pictures of the sky, just as it looks on your post. Oh my! I am so sad for all the loses that those in Joplin experienced. I am so thankful that it did not hit your area as it has in the past. Even though the skies were scary, there was great beauty in them too. I'm just thankful that you were away from the actual area and that you are safe. I love you.

Many prayers and heartfelt thoughts are with the people affected.

We've been watching these storms on the news...as each one touches down to snatch and change lives. I cannot imagine the fury and terror of it all, the devastation or what the aftermath must be like for those who have lost their homes and loved ones. We've had so many tragedies throughout the world in recent years. Such things remind us that we are not in control.

My heart and my deepest prayers go out to all who have been touched by nature's fury. I'm so glad you and your family are safe.

Nature inspires such awe, and can also bring such sadness. :( I'm so sorry for the losses suffered there and all those affected are in my prayers. Glad that you and yours are safe and well.

I hope you and your family and friends keep staying safe, along with other residents in the area. Keep praying and hoping for the best. The losses have been terrible. Hopefully everyone will keep coming together to help each other out, grieve, comfort each other, and rebuild - and aid, support, and prayers are coming in from other places too.

I am glad that you are safe. I feel bad for those that weren't. It was so sad seeing it on TV. They need many prayers. So sorry. Being so close has to make it so much worse.

Do you read This Heavenly Life? She lives in Joplin but they've survived and their house is OK. Their friends and family have lost so much.

I'm glad you're alright.

Relyn, Coming from Xenia, Ohio where we experience the worst f5 tornado in history, I know what everyone in that area is feeling. I am so sorry for so many lost lives. It will eventually get back to normal but not for a long time. Prayers going out to everyone. Fear of storms will become a big deal for those in that town. Glad you are OK.

I had no idea you were so close. I hope all your family and friends are safe, but that this terrible thing should happen to anyone, anywhere breaks my heart.

How ironic that the sky should be so beautiful after such tragedy.

Yes, prayers. Lots of them.

Sending you love and prayers for healing from what's happened. I believe God is always right there with us, but sometimes it's hard to square that with what we see around us.
