the 80s

1982, look at those feathers!

Tomorrow is 80s day at school followed by an 80s Night Dance. Sloane and I had so much fun shopping and practicing hair and makeup tonight. I bought electric blue eyeliner, and was surprised when I found the blue mascara I was looking for. I got streaky hot pink blush, plus teal and violet eye shadows. Sloane has an armful of plastic bracelets, too. We'll be, like... totally tubular.

1984, a then- favorite outfit
Now, I wonder what the deal was with sandals and hose.

Actually, I can hardly believe I just took a pair of scissors to a just-purchased t-shirt. Oh my, the things we do to make our children happy. You should see Sloane's leggings and lace skirt and pile of necklaces. Last night I let her stay up way too late because we lost track of time as we searched old photos for dress up ideas. I thought you might get a kick out of a little vintage Relyn.
1986, with my brother
Come to think of it, I still love that outfit.

Big hair, shoulder pads, tons of makeup, great music, lots of accessories - I loved the 80s. You?

The 80's was my hair's decade to shine. And let's not forget dress up--with the shirt buttoned all the way to the top and sealed with a broach. And hoop earrings that grazed the shoulders. Not that it was too hard, mind you, with the shoulder pads.

Good times.

And good times to you two, too! :)

LOVE the glimpses of the vintage you, Relyn! Oh, this took me back! And your black, white red/orange outfit is FAB! You look like Lady Di before she became Princess! The 80's was fun. And you know I wear turquoise eyeshadow now! I began wearing it again last year for fun...but not necessarily with purple eyeliner this time! LOL... I had a pair of black lace-up boots that I loved...wish I had those. Do share some photos from your 80's night! Would love to see Sloane. Be sure to rock like it's 1985! ;o) ((HUGS))

Most excellent! What a magical time it was in the '80's - I remember wearing shoulder pads that were so big I had to go through the door sideways!

It amazes me that it was so long ago they now have '80's night dances at school!

Love seeing the you of the 80's. I hope you share pictures of you and Sloane take now in your outfits. The 80's doesn't seem that long ago for me, as I am a child of an earlier generation. I went to design school in the 80's and yes I remember those shoulder pads.

Great photos! You do look like Lady Di. I was studying hard for most of the 80s and then trying to be taken seriously as a professional, so missed out on the disco aspect. But I did a lot of roller skating (on the bike trail, not at the rink). Oh the joy of a Walkman!

Love the vintage Relyn, but then the 21st century Relyn is pretty terrific, too. And cutting those sleeves off would have killed me, too...

How fun to have a throw back to the '80's day. When my kids were at a school in NY, they had a 1904 dress day to celebrate their 100th anniversary. It was so fun to dress up my son in knicker pants and my daughter in tights with ankle boots under her dress. I hope your children have a wonderful time!

*big grin* You and I could have the same photo album, Relyn. I'm laughing at the black and white checkered top you are wearing - I had a sweatshirt in that exact design. And look at the Flashdance fashions in the last photo! I loved that look!!

Wow..great look, Relyn. It reminds me of Flashdance. I never did have the big hair. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
