as if the fullness of the soulHappy Sunday, friends.
did not sometimes overflow in the
emptiest metaphors, since no one
can ever give the exact measure
of his needs, nor of his conceptions,
nor of his sorrows; and since
human speech is like a cracked
tin kettle, on which we hammer
out tunes to make bears dance
when we long to move the stars.-gustave flaubert

"...like a cracked tin kettle..." :-) I like that... It does seems so, at times, doesn't it?

Thank you! The lines of this one are going to stay with me for a good while.
This is ringing so true to me: ...no one can ever give the exact measure
of his needs, nor of his conceptions,
nor of his sorrows...
Happy Sunday. The sun has set here and my Sunday has actually come to an end, well almost, it is now time for dinner.
Have a fun week ahead.
Beautiful indeed.
I always look forward to your Sunday morning poetry.
Love you

Beautiful poetry! Thank you for sharing!
Have a nice week!
Isn't that the truth? Yet, I keep hammering out a tune, hoping that I will get there! (And I love that print!)
I have never heard this quote, but how I long to move the stars and dance with bears.
This is the first time I've read this poem and I love it!
one of my all-time favorites!
(I love it when you
read to us:))

This is very sweet... and you know, I don't think I've come across this one before! I like that last line, though I would like to move WITH stars. :o) Happy Days, Relyn ((HUGS))
Ooh, Black Apple is a favorite!
Oh Flaubert, one of my favorite writers. He struggled so much with writing. He said that some days all he had to show for his work was a single sentence, and even then he wasn't happy with it! And yet he wrote some of the most piercingly beautiful novels that see into the human soul... I'm glad he persevered. One person's bear-dancing-tunes IS another person's star-dance!
Great poem, we should all make bears dance and move the stars!

p.s. thank you for your sweet comment on my new line!
what wonder and truth in these lines.

Thanks for all your visits and your kind words♥
Beautiful and poignant. We'll almost always fall short of what we want to say and how we hope to move others, but the beauty is to keep trying. Thanks for sharing this.
There is much truth in these words.
