Autumn has fled these parts.  Winter has come in with a chill that chatters the teeth.  In order to let go of one season, I find I need to take a moment to be really grateful.  After that I'll be able to fully embrace winter.  Today's list comes from my students.  At the start of autumn, they all wrote one thing they loved onto a leaf and we posted them on our door.  This is what they said:

Things we love about autumn
* bonfires * purple leaves * S'mores * birds migrating * all the different colored leaves * winter is coming soon * sleepovers * scarecrows * stepping on pinecones * pumpkins on porches * hot cocoa * chil for supper * Jack-O Lanterns * colder weather * Fall Festivals * Christmas is next * fall parties at school * Thanksgiving turkey * pretty leaves * Halloween * jumping in leaf piles * costumes * leaves floating in the air * the smell of leaves burning * marshmallows and candy apples * pumpkin pie * sweater weather * five days off at Thanksgiving *

Happy winter, friends.

What a wonderful idea, to write on a leaf and put on the door. I simply love the chrystanthemum (or is it a dahlia - shows how much I know about plants)

"Christmas is next" made me smile. I was remembering with my husband how excited we used to be as kids when Christmas was approaching. It seemed to take forever to get here and I can still feel the butterflies in my stomach when I remember going to bed the night before...it amazes me that so many decades have passed and that now it seems to be such a rush, rush, rush and then over.

Now THAT's a stunning image and wonderful way to say farewell to autumn. It's a marvelous list -- I'm not sure what I would be able to add!

I'm not ready to say goodbye to autumn. I am just getting started. I love the caramel apples! It is my favorite time of the year. Oh well...winter is on it's way and with that comes Christmas carols and fudge! Yum!

Hi, dear Relyn! Lovely to catch up with you after returning from some travels and Thanksgiving break in the US. Funnily enough I took a similar photo while away. Great minds. ;o) It's been a good time lately. But tough too as my parent's are too well in health either of them (I've not shared this at my place yet), so that was hard to see and leave. I'm in a place of trying to find a harmony in all there is to do at the moment and still find time to enjoy the things I love to do--like painting, etc. This time of year is such a challenge in that respect... So I know I'm not alone in that. ;o) Happy Holly-Days ((HUGS))
