Things I Learned in August

Around the last day of each month I post a list of things I learned paired my own favorite photo from that month.

** Sloane is already a better baker than I have ever been. Her rainforest cupcakes are as good as any bakery treat I've ever tasted. **

**  August 5 is way, way too early to head back to school.  **

**  Recess duty isn't ever going to be fun if the temperature is past 90.  **

**  Just because I taught them last year doesn't mean they behave any better the first month of school.  **

**  If you turn the internet off sooner at night and go to bed you will feel much better in the morning.  **

**  The earlier you head back to school, the better Labor Day feels.  **

**  All it takes is a sparkly hat to make a birthday really special.  **

**  When something you've been longing for goes on sale, buy it now.  It won't last.  **

**  Snail mail is still the best cheer-value around - lots of joy for less than a buck.  **

**  While baseball games aren't nearly as fun from the cheap seats (read grassy hill), you can always find something to laugh about.  **

**  A pedicure is only going to last about 3 1/2 weeks - gel or not.  **

**  Make time for friends.  **

**  Laughter really is the best medicine.  **

What about you, friends?  What did you learn last month?

Greetings from London.

Wow you learned a lot. Yes, that is too early and too hot to start school then. I will have to think what I learned.

Hey, I agree with that first commenter. One of my recent posts was on Shropshire (Much Wenlock). Lovely! And I think I've learned (again) that summer is my favorite and I'm not ready to let go. Btw, that is one cute 6th grader in the last post! Growing up so fast! Can't believe you have to go back that early. Wayyyy too early. Happy week to you!

"If you turn the internet off sooner at night and go to bed you will feel much better in the morning" OH, yes! I try not to be online after 6pm, if I can help it--it really makes for a more mentally quiet evening, which also relaxes the body. In August I learned creative energy also needs creative down time--keep filling the well, gently. :o) ((HUGS))

That as I've grown older that summer has grown longer.
That a good book helps me forget the heat.
That having my husband as my best friend makes everything better, even when it's 95.

Good list, and I agree when something you like goes on sale buy it ASSAP.

LOVE that photo! I learned that Lizzie isn't the good traveler that I thought she was and that I'm going to be all right, at least for now.

I love your list!

You mean pedicures don't last 2 months? I tried.
Laughter is the best medicine for sure.
Definitely turning off computer early is a good thing, but then I turn it on way too early in the morning.

That is a very thoughtful list. I am with you reducing the amount of computer time. I try to tell myself that the iPad doesn't count :).

Oldies, but Goodies
