Sunday Morning Poetry

Winter Trees

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.
~ William Carlos Williams

Wow . . . after that first comment I feel so boring. :) Lovely poem + photo, as always!

If I don't get another chance to tell you, a Very Merry Christmas to you and yours . . . xoxo

I love the prickly caterpillar-like appearance of the branch in the photo. And I love the perspective of the poem, bringing the trees to life in such an intimate way.

I hope you have a happy holiday and a wonderful New Year.

Such a beautiful poem. My husband and I were out for a walk yesterday and noticed some buds on the trees. We weren't sure if they were just confused, or if it's part of living further South.
I wish you and your beautiful family a peaceful and joyous Christmas. Thank you for your blog - so comforting and inspiring!

Oldies, but Goodies
