farewell to elementary school days

That's Sloane, on the playground of the school she attended all seven years of elementary school.  Yesterday was Sloane's last day of sixth grade.  Goodness. I still remember walking her to Kindergarten like it was yesterday.

Sloane isn't remembering yesterday, though.  She's looking forward.  She's eager to hang out with friends and swim this summer.  She is ready to take on Jr. High in six weeks.  Like most children, her view is mostly toward the exciting future.

That makes remembering and recording the past our jobs, doesn't it?  We need to take the pictures, record the videos, write the stories, save the artwork.  We need to do what we can to save tiny bits and pieces of the past.  It surely won't come again.

I think sometimes it is harder for the parent to let the past be gone, we want to hold on to our little ones. They push forward eagerly for sure.

How exciting for her and how lucky for her that she attended the same school all those years. Our poor daughter started Kindergarten in Germany, did 3rd and 4th grade in Colorado, 5th, 6th and 7th in Germany and then high school in Georgia.

Unfortunately, it all goes by too quickly, but there are always so many wonderful adventures ahead.

She is a beautiful young lady, Relyn.

She is as beautiful inside as out. What joy she must bring.

What a beautiful girl, and what a scary adventure for you:). I absolutely agree with your thoughts on keeping hold of the memories - creating a "log" of our history. Time passes so quickly, and is important to savor. Good luck!

a gorgeous girl, as you said, looking forward not behind. It's hard for us as parents not to look behind though. That's a short summer holiday you have there, six weeks. The kids here, of elementary school age anyways, have about 9 weeks, and high school have about 2 weeks on top of that.

Such a beautiful girl. My daughter told me yesterday that it was four years since she left her beloved primary school. She is looking both backwards and forwards. I'm so grateful that her years at that school were such very happy ones. It's a good basis for going on.

Isn't she just lovely? What a special photo... and you are right, grab all the memories you can and get them down because time goes so fast.

Oldies, but Goodies
