Sunday Morning Poetry

in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far andwee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it's
spring
and
the
goat-footed

balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee

Always one of my favorites! I used to teach it, but I think it is now taught at a younger level. Thank you for reminding me--put a smile on my face!

Puddle-wonderful - such a great word :). And a lovely photo full of sharp detail ...

There is a reason he is my favorite poet (apart from a broken caps key!) -- and this poem is one of those reasons!

"mud-luscious" and "puddle-wonderful" are so awesome.
