Diner food:a must for any self-respecting, road-tripping family
We're here:There's so much to see, so much to do, so much to eat!
Our taste of Chicago: This trip was brief and low-budget. For this trip, Jeffrey and I traveled with a six year old and a woman whose motto is, "Why eat when you can shop?" Our compromise? Good food, but cheap. Very, very good food - but definitely not fine dining.

Street ViewThanks so much to all of you who left travel tips and good wishes on my last post. They made the whole family smile. Thanks, too to those of you who checked back all weekend to read about my trip. I'm sorry it took me till Sunday night to get this posted. Between us, Mom and I took about 350 pictures. i can see the deep dish pizza to die for...no place like chicago for pizza in my opinion! i love road trips better than any other kind of travel...and would be doing just all of what you say here..plus eat snacks and nap. i like to travel so i can listen to books read to me on my ipod. happy potter is a constant road trip favorite.. well and every other time favorite too :) i will be watching as the vacation unfolds here on your blog. glad you had fun!

Oh you got such better *bean* pictures than I did! Isn't it amazing how when you stand right underneath it and you look up, you can't tell how high it is, or how deep it is? So strange.

Your photos are a reminder of how much I like Chicago. It was my first big city trip when I was 13 and I was instantly smitten - the Art Institute, Marshall Fields, the Conrad Hilton, the food...it just seemed magical to this small town girl.
