Sunday Morning Poetry

There is this cave
in the air behind my body
that nobody is going to touch:
a cloister, a silence
closing around a blossom of fire.
When I stand upright in the wind
my bones turn to dark emeralds.
~ from The Jewel by James Wright

Happy Sunday, my friends.

Oh, Relyn, James Wright is in my top, top group of favorite poets, and this is one of those poems that I have read (and taught) dozens of times, each time finding something new in it. Thanks for sharing it here this morning. It gives me chills every time.

xoxo Gigi

Like Gillian, I love the last line. I've been writing and reading poetry lately. Part of the process of processing the photography and writing workshops, I think.
