Sunday Morning Poetry

Summons

Keep me from going to sleep too soon
Or if I go to sleep too soon
Come wake me up. Come any hour
Of the night. Come whistling up the road
Stomp on the porch. Bang on the door.
Make me get out of bed and come
And let you in and light a light.
Tell me the northern lights are on
And make me look. Or tell me clouds
Are doing something to the moon
They never did before, and show me.
See that I see.
Talk to me till
I'm half as wide awake as you
And start to dress wondering why
I ever went to bed at all.
Tell me the walking is superb.
Not only tell me but persuade me.
You know I'm not too hard persuaded.
~ Robert Francis

I took this picture of a blue moon on December 31, 2009. A blue moon is the second full moon in a month.

I love the picture, Relyn and I especially love the one Sloane sent me, just because she did it herself to send to me. I want to be wide awake seeing what the world has to offer!

Love this poem. Love the visual it gives me of lovely night skies and the beauty of Christ's creation.

And now I shall try to persuade my daughter to walk with me in the snow . . .
lovely, lovely poem.

I just realized that I am listening to Ella Fitzgerald sing "How High the Moon." Apt!

Now I'm feeling sorry that I didn't go outside when my husband reminded me it was a blue moon. Sometimes lazy wins...it really shouldn't.

Oh this so speaks to the night owl in me. So good to see you again...I have been hibernating..but came out just in time to see this lovely blue moon of yours.
The wind is blowing intensely outside right now, and I just peeked out the window to see if the moon was glowing, but it is hidden amongst the deep clouds.

Much love

Hi Relyn,

As there are wonders to see all around us all the time, if we take the time to see, I'm not sure I'd want to be awakened at 'any hour of the night' too often! Bed can be awfully comfortable!

So beautiful. This is my favorite line:

And start to dress wondering why
I ever went to bed at all.

This would be a wonderful opening line for a book.

:-)
