Sunday Morning Poetry

pieces of heaven

This Is My Father's World

This is my Father's world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
he shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

~ Maltbie Babcock, 1901

Listen.

Happy Thanksgiving, my friends. Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for sharing that poem Relyn. That is something that we really need to remember, "O let me ne'er forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the rule yet!" Amen sister, a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours!

I remember singing this
as a little girl.
"He speaks to me everywhere"
indeed!
I never paid attention
to the words.
Maybe they paid attention
to me, just the same:)

I just heard a beautiful instrumental version on spa at Sirus radio last night and could only sing the 1 line (in my head LOL) each time. Thank you for sharing this lovely Hymn. I needed this today.

We were reminded of this yesterday at church ... that no matter our circumstances, we must thank the Lord for who He is! A little tidbit too easily forgotten I fear ...

And a Happy Thanksgiving to YOU!
