Sunday Morning Poetry

from The Metamorphoses of Ovid
The soaring palace of the sun, with all
its giant columns, was ablaze with gold
and bronzel as if aflame; its pediments
were crowned on high with polished ivory;
and glowing silver traced its double doors.
~ translated by Allen Mandelbaum

Obviously, I didn't take that one. Photo courtesy of NASA. You can find more about Allen Mandelbaum here.

Till seraphs swing their snowy hats,
And saints to windows run,
To see the little tippler,
Leaning against the sun!

Have a little merry by the fire this season, Relyn...

I remember you mentioning this book before and I enjoyed reading some of the poetic translation. I really must do something about it this time!
