still laughing...

I left a comment at a friend's blog that I thought you might get a kick out of. Her post reminded me of a hilarious family story. Last summer we went on a mini-vacation with my parents. The five of us shared a big room and Sloane had a cot. I got up in the night to go to the restroom and she woke up and asked me to get her a drink of water. I didn't want to turn on the lights and wake up anybody, so I grabbed a glass by feel and poured water in it. I took it to her and everyone's sound sleep was over. I'm not sure if it was her exclamation, "Oh gross!" or my roar of laughter that woke everyone, but I had handed her my Dad's false teeth in a glass.

Yikes!!! I love the story and the image.

When you are a kid, there is something amazingly creepy about teeth in a glass...and maybe when you are an adult too -unless they are your own teeth!

Oh Relyn, I laughed and laughed when I read this. I can just see Sloane's face when you handed her that glass! Sooo funny! I bet Carl didn't think it near as funny. Thanks for sharing that.

When Grandma would come and stay with us, she would share my bedroom because I had twin beds. I was always very excited about this, and enthralled by the glass she kept by the bed that she would put her teeth in at bedtime. It was just a normal part of Grandma's visit (that and making me practice the piano....).

Well, yuck; but also yuk. I've never thought of that before, but gross things DO often make us laugh.

Great visual, too. :)

I had to laugh at the story.

I was always fascinated by my grandmother's false teeth, hearing aide, almost empty pocketbooks and and beautiful brooches.

That is funny! I'm sure she'll remember that story fondly when she's all grown up. I remember my great-grandfather staying with us when I was very little. He told my sister and I that he was taking his teeth out so he wouldn't bite us in the night! We giggled and giggled over that then and it is still fun now.

When my cousin was young, she once stole her grandmother's false teeth in the night and put them under her pillow hoping to hit the jackpot with the tooth fairy. It took a while for the big people in the house to find them. I had to hand it to her though..it was a brilliant idea for a 5 year old, even if it brought her no loot. lol.

Oldies, but Goodies
