If I Were In Charge of the World

image is by HoneyPie Living and is used with permission

Week 36 of the Wednesday lists.
This week's list is inspired by a wonderful poem by Judith Viorst.

If I were in charge of the world...

  • Desserts and veggies would trade places on the food pyramid.
  • There would be clean water for everyone.
  • Shoes would tie themselves and only come untied when given a special command by their wearer.
  • No one would ever be hungry.
  • People who did not pull over for ambulances would receive a $200 ticket, every time. Someone could be dying in that ambulance.
  • Every toilet would be equipped with an automatic flusher, room spray, and seat lowering device.
  • Good TV shows would never devolve into soap operas.
  • Teachers would be paid at least as much as lawyers.
  • Smoking would automatically disqualify someone for food stamps. If you can afford to smoke, you can afford food.
  • No one (especially me) would ever need bifocals. And trifocals?? Fugeddaboudit.
  • Comment trolls would get a horrible virus in their computer every time they spread their nastiness around.
  • Scientists would find a cure for cancer, MS, and a whole host of other diseases.
  • Every man would get a bad case of PMS at least once in their lives. (For the resulting compassion, of course.)
  • I would have that magical gift of always saying the right thing at the right time.
  • Artists would be paid at least as much as doctors.
  • Service providers would always be treated with respect and appreciation.
  • All boobs would remain perky; even after middle age.
What did I forget?

When is the vote?! I vote for you to be in charge of the word!

I think I might add that a nap after lunch is worked into everyone's day!

Your lists are always the best! I would add a cure for heart disease and a passport and trip to another country for every high school graduate. It would open their eyes for sure.

There would be no detention centers for the young ....the appropriate sentence would be to be shipped off to a "third world" country to work and learn.

Men would have to pay their wives at least half of their salary for staying home and taking care of his home and his children....a job more important than his.

If it is mandated that two of the same sex cannot marry and raise children, then it will be mandated that a marriage is between one man and one woman.....for as long as their are children in the home....NOT one man and one woman at a time!

Parents will not be allowed to go to bed and sleep until they have read to their children for at least 20 minutes each day.

People (especially politicians) should be built so that a big red mark pops up in the middle of their forehead when they tell a lie.

You are sooo good, Relyn...you hit everything! You do make the best lists--you rise it to an art, my friend! That last one is funny... I'm at that age where they're just starting to turn, you know what I mean...it's VERY disconcerting! :o( haha... Happy Day ((HUGS))

Yes, thank you! That or buying alcohol. Beer doesn't have nutrients...

And I hope that comment trolls haven't been an issue for you. I think that's a huge step towards a better world - people taking care with what they say and caring about the consequences of their writing/speech.

All wonderful, Relyn.

I would love that gift of always saying the right thing at the time. Sigh, that would be nice.

I think you would make a great world leader. The only thing I would add is that every weekend would be three days instead of two.

I believe someone invented that seat lowering device. I especially wish for it in the middle of the night.

I'd also that that: Cats would never throw up in the traffic patter en route to the light switch.
