and it begins...

It's back to school time.
The kids are here and happy and ready to learn.
I love second grade!

I love this time of year.

The picture above is a student portrait of me.
I never noticed how bowlegged I am. ha
At least she didn't color my hair gray, right?

I just love this time of year!

Happy New School Year! We still have about 3 weeks, so we're trying to make most of the summer we have left.

I love the portrait of you. It's wonderful.

I always feel that the real New Year is now, when schools go back (although I love the official one on 1st Jan as well). That's a great portrait of you - wonderful eyelashes! Straight from the heart. Enjoy your teaching.

My oldest just graduated this past Monday from college and my other daughter leaves for college in 2 weeks. I really am looking forward to not doing the back to school thing anymore. I walked by the supplies in Kmart the other day and just laughed!

I always loved the beginning of the school year. It has felt to me more like the start of a "new year" than any other time of year. But my kids are grown and I too see the school supplies and ads and think of how crazy and busy a time it all was. And then I smile, for it really was some of the best of times.

You wear some pointy shoes Relyn! ;) Second grade is such a wonderful age. They are old enough to appreciate things but still young that they have the child-like wonder (and aren't terribly bratty from what I remember!) Good luck with this year. :)

I LOVE it. For some reason I did not know you taught school. I taught 4 year olds for 30 years.
Their drawings of me were precious. But I learned a long time ago to look at them through their eyes(LOL)!
Have a fantastic year with your angel children!

With that, Happy School Year to you!

A very delightful portrait! Oh, second grade there is still a bit of the innocence of a child. You are so fortunate to have children this age and to be there to guide them along their way. Have a totally wonderful year, it does sound like it is off to a good start.

Brilliant! I'm taking it that that's a real, happy smile and not a forced thought-gritted-teeth one! We're not back for a fortnight yet, but the shops of full of littlies buying pencil cases...

Oh, my gosh -- I have been out of blogworld for a long time! First, congratulations on the first day of school, since you are excited! (I'm not sure it would be congratulatory to me!)

Second, your trip sounds wonderful and oh! Those "canyon" photos -- I agree. A tad of an understatement, isn't it!

I love this time of year, too! I'm wishing you a wonderful school year, Relyn! (I think your students are very fortunate little things!)

Oh how awesome! Are you going to frame your portrait, Relyn? I think you should! Our young nieces drew portraits of my husband and I which had us laughing because they are pretty darn accurate! They are hanging in our dining room.

PS: I can't believe that you started school already! Well, I can because our niece and nephews started school in Kentucky on the same day as you. August 10th!
