a few summer blessings

Week 40 of the Wednesday lists.
There is a chill in the air and I can hardly wait for autumn to really begin. As one season gives way to another, I always like to mark it and say, "Thank you."

Summer Joys
* one long road trip * learning how to create long exposure photographs * traveling with my parents * taking a picture of Sloane at the Petrified Forest that exactly matches one of my brother at the same age * the way Dad would pull over just in case I wanted to take a photograph * watching a herd of elks feeding on the hotel lawn at the Grand Canyon * visiting a new art museum * long nights and long walks * fireflies * sleepovers that last for days * baseball games * entire days with nothing to do but read * making a new friend * hanging new curtains fashioned from vintage linens * spending time at home; just the three of us and nothing to do * a kind friend who shares his pool so much it's like having our own * working ahead and planning lessons for all of first quarter * homegrown tomatoes * summer salads * meeting up with school friends * shooting my first wedding * stargazing * Jeffrey and Sloane's road trip to Oregon * small town festivals with the greatest lemonade ever * the library's summer reading program * meeting my niece for the first time * seeing my brother again * climbing around cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde * time alone with Sloane in an amazing hotel pool in Sedona * seeing our first book with fore-edge painting * riding the Sandia mountain tram in Albuquerque * watching lightening storms * great books and lots of time to read them * spending the Fourth at the ballpark * picnics *

Great list! I'll miss sleeping late and eating lots of good Mexican food!

Lovely list! I will miss napping on the sofa where my view, just before going to sleep, is of green, green, green.

Your list sounds like a wonderful summer.
How about that hotel at the Grand Canyon. Did you get to stay there.
Alot of history in that place.
Oh, Sedona. I loved it there. I hear it has become pretty commercialized. That's okay, the sunsets are still undisturbed. The torqoise and orange colors will stay in my memory forever.

Sounds like a wonderful summer. The Grand Canyon is on my short list...a must see. Fall is my favorite season and after such a hot summer, I am so ready for jeans, sweaters and boots (not coats!)and finally being able to light the firepit and make s'mores!

Sounds like you had a terrific summer. I am ready for Autumn. And may I just say that cross processing is my favorite photo effect?

I love your lists. My verification word is "laters" and it is pretty perfect, as this is the later part of summer, soon to be fall, though it feels that way now. I will miss it all. Every single bit.

Sounds like you had the best of summers! I'll miss fresh flowers each week ... fresh veggies with every meal ... dining al fresco ... watching the birds fly through the sprinkler ... and hearing them sing!

Love your list, Relyn! Doesn't it seem like summer started yesterday? And now we are into fall and the memories that it will create. Sorry I haven't been around lately, have more time to myself now - will visit more!

That list is so rich and vivid. I love this one the most: taking a picture of Sloane at the Petrified Forest that exactly matches one of my brother at the same age
its intergenerational relationships, the good things from the past repeated in the present.

I loved getting to see more of my family and friends over the summer and to do more walking and exploring of the city where I now live. There are other things about this summer that I'm glad to be putting behind me though.

This summer has been so hot I won't miss much except the occasional cool mornings on the porch with my coffee.

Oh, so happy to see one of your lists, Relyn... loving and savoring your last tastes of summer here. Autumn has been much in the air here, though the leaves aren't turning just yet...but soon...;o) I will especially miss time at the weekends sitting out on the deck in the evenings through twilight, sipping chilled white wine and catching up on the week with my sweet hubby. :o) Happy Weekend, my friend ((HUGS))

What a great list!!!! It's been a crazy summer here and the weather hasn't felt much like summer until just recently.

I think I'm already starting to miss the longer days. It's getting darker a little earlier each night and it's still dark when I wake up in the morning.

Cheers, jj

Oh, Relyn, you have me smiling tonight. What a fun summer you had! The trips were downright cool but it's also the small, little simple things that make for happy memories.

humph...I am still waiting for the magical day when I see fireflies for the first time. One day it will happen.

You have done so many wonderful things this summer! You live a charmed life, my friend.
