What do you miss?

I've been thinking about the quiet tonight. Sloane is gone and it makes our house feel uncharacteristically quiet and empty. It's funny how one person can fill a space and make it breathe with laughter and joy. My parents gave Sloane a trip to Alaska for her birthday. She's going to see a dogsled race, ride a dogsled, and, if the weather cooperates, see the Northern Lights. I'm so excited for her I can hardly stand it.

I guess tonight I'm just thinking about my baby. Missing her. Just now I miss the sound of her. The slow, quiet breathing when she is asleep. The giggles and laughter when we are playing. The non-stop chatter all the rest of the time. I miss the sound of her.

What do you miss when your loved ones are away?

Wow, Alaska. What a great gift! I think the thing I miss the most is the routine - the boring routine that I often complain about and then realize it's routine because I want it that way.

When my sisters children are here and then they go back home, I miss the unexpected silliness and the noise. What an opportunity for Sloane, One of the items on my bucket list is dog sledding. Your baby will return home soon and all will be right again. sending you a hug today.

Oh, so sweet, Relyn... and ALASKA--what an amazing birthday gift for Sloane! My hubby goes away for work only occasionally, perhaps so little as twice a year and only for a day or two. But how much I miss him when he does...*sigh*... I miss his quiet strength which always lifts me, and his smile. :o) Happy Weekend ((HUGS))

When my loved ones are away, I always find it very difficult to concentrate properly! As if one part of my brain has left with them. I hope Sloane has a completely terrific time - what a great present! I've seen the Northern Lights a few times here in Scotland and they are magical. In Gaelic they are called "Fir Chlis" or "dancing men".

I miss everyone of my family when they're not here. I also take the time alone to refresh myself, to do the things I haven't time for when they're around.

I miss just knowing someone else is here. My house is so often quiet, no chattering younger ones; but it is just a feel the house gets when it is empty of another.

So very hard when they go away -- even for a few days -- and newsflash -- it doesn't change when they get older! (And go away for longer!). Cherish -- but then, I know you do.

there is an energy hole
when anyone is gone....it never leaves. We get over the homesick
sad ache but it comes back in bits
whenever I walk into that energy hole.
Funny, it's kind of like a ghost.
Only they're way alive
so it can't be.
It's just the left-behindness,
I guess.
Hope you get to nuzzle her soon
and that those precious sounds
fill your ears.
Store them away in your heart:)
love and peace,
Jen

Oh my gosh, that's one awesome birthday present! Lucky Sloane!! Imagine all the stories she's going to tell you when she gets back home, Relyn.

Tonight, I suggested that we call his mother and ask her to drive down to our place (an eight hour drive) to make us dinner. He laughed and replied, YOU can tell her that! Tonight, I missed my in-law's french onion soup. :)

Oldies, but Goodies
