change is never easy...

young love

It became official Thursday night. The elementary school where I work is being turned into a magnet school. I staff I work with are all being sent to schools throughout the district.

My heart hurts.

Yes, this is a good decision for the school district. Yes, it will be a good thing for so many people. Yes, of course, I am grateful to still have a job. Of course. But.

But, I am heartbroken.

This place I work; this place I love; this beautiful season in my life... all of it is ending. And I am sad. Just sad.

People who don't work here think our sadness is just the stress of change. It isn't. Those of us who work here, know that we are a part of something special. That it just doesn't happen like this very often. We've made a family out of a disparate group of people. We've made a home out of a fifty year old building. We've made a life of service, together. We've found a family.

And my heart is broken to lose it.

I feel your pain, Relyn. Yet, each of your colleagues will be able to spread their joy all around the district. Kids who would have otherwise not got to know them will now find a special teacher. Take care.

Change is never easy...I can relate to your feelings. I am always embracing adventure, but deep down I am so scared!! Thankfully, we are more adaptable than we realize. God is so faithful!I am sure you will get to see new sides of him in the coming days!

Oh, but I am so sorry your facing this heartache, Relyn. A life of service in change can be sore to deal with, especially when one gives so much to many. I hope very that this door closing, of sorts, will mean a new door opening for you & your school family. :o) Thinking of you...((HUGS))

So sorry. That has to be so hard. Schools are changing more and more because of the economy.
Not sure that's why your school is changing. It's hard to be part of a "family" and have everyone in it scattered every where. I will be saying prayers for you. ((((((HUGS))))

I am so sorry. You are right, change is a difficult thing, especially when you have something in your hands that is so precious. Blessings on you and the others this will effect.

..just think of that butterfly, all wrapped up, warm and happy, in his cocoon...then the painful change that had to happen before all could see his glory! Be prepared to show all your glory!!

When we're so happy with how things are, change really sucks. You have an unsettling road ahead and I hope the happy memories of your school family give you strength.

i think i know how you feel....similar to every time we've moved and the people we love and know are no longer where they belong....like right next door.
it hurts. i know how it hurts.

Oh dear Relyn~ So very sorry to hear and so wishing change didn't always hurt so much! Even when we can see the silver linings, there is such a tear in the soul! Am thinking of you and sending heartfelt hugs and prayers! Prayers for all those moving, for those feeling such pain and loss and that it ends up being the best and brightest thing for all involved!

I'm so sorry Relyn to hear this, I know how much you've loved this place and you've written about it so many times...I only hope that the change coming will bring you even more happiness, as yet unknown, but still coming.

I'm so sorry for your heartache, Relyn. I think it's very likely that the goodness you all built together will continue to radiate and be felt as you work in different places and in different ways. But what a loss. I hope you can keep sight of all that you accomplished. No doubt the children will be feeling grief as well.

I feel like sending you condolences. The end of a workplace - and working community - is sad.

Oh Relyn, I'm sorry, too. It is hard when you have to say goodbye to coworkers who have become dear friends. Will you be teaching elsewhere, too?

Relyn, I'm sorry to hear this. It's hard when a community you're a part of breaks up. Together you all make something special and irreplaceable.

I hope in time all the positives you mention will ease the hurt and that the changes will lead to another wonderful community of people. It's not a replacement and it won't be the same. But maybe it will also be good in a different way.

I wish you strength and hope and faith that the stressful situation will surprise you in good ways in the future and that your old colleagues will keep in touch and stay as close as they can in the circumstances.

But, you just never know what's coming around the next turn in the road.
