making time to rest

When we were out celebrating Father's Day yesterday
I saw one of my school friends, and she gave me the nicest compliment.
She said, "You look great.  Really, really pretty.  Rested and happy; just great."

Of course I thanked her for the lovely compliment.
I could have told her it was my new haircut.
Or, my cute new tee (see photo above).

But, I didn't.  Because as we talked about our summers,
I realized just how much I needed this time.
Time to rest.  Time to recover.

I began to realize that the hard things show up on our faces
even when we think we have things under control and under wraps.
Apparently not because when you begin to shed your stress,
you start looking better.

I needed this.  Time to rest. Time to recover.

Time to play with Sloane, take a nap in the middle of the day,
watch two movies in one evening if I want,
write a few letters, go shopping,
read an entire book in one day.

Time.

I hope you also make time to rest this summer, friends.

All the pictures for this making time for series have been taken on my new iPhone using Instagram.  I just love that app!

What a great compliment to receive. Teachers work so hard all year long and do need a little rest.
After a bad week I really thought I was better today. I went to another town to take care of two little boys of a family we are very close to. I looked in the mirror and had to take a step back. Wow, this past week showed all over my face.

When I ran into classmates, I found myself telling them my summer had been "boring" thus far. I then decided this statement was not true. Now I say, "Relaxing," or, "Restful," and I'm telling the truth.

Time when it is filled with stress-free activities can take five our ten years off of our faces in just a few days. I'm glad you have had that time. It obviously is working well for you.

Such a great post because it reminds me that if I don't slow down and rest, I will be flat on my back without a choice. Resting is good...especially without feeling guilty for doing it either.

"Rested and happy; just great." What a perfect compliment. And showing your Wisdom, for making it happen. For knowing what-you-need.

Oh yes!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Midsummer's Night Eve!

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine..."

Time, a beautiful word depending on how its used.
I love sweet personal time too. Two movies in one night, wow what a lovely concept!
Super happy to reconnect with you, during what feels like this " second wave " of blogging for me. I believe our connections stay forever, bonds made tend to never break if they are full of meaning to begin with.
Xoxo
Love to you friend :-)

Yes, you did need time to rest and play and take care of you. I am so happy you are having that time this summer.

even when we work full time and don't technically get a summer off it still seems that summer has a more restful feeling to it.
Enjoy your summer
