Sunday Morning Poetry

... at the gates of Megalomania Studios,
I stared, mesmerized.
Movies... A darkened theater,
A raspberry velvet seat. A bag of popcorn.
What more could you ask for?

I'm crazy for movies
            I'm weak at the knees
English mysteries,
           screwball comedies
Spaghetti westerns
            three bowls please

It doesn't matter what, it doesn't matter who
If it's Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers
I'll absolutely do   I worship their allure
                                       If I'm sick, don't find  a cure

A Hitchcock scream, a Fellini dream
                Film noir, Mel Blanc

And all that's in between
Flood my senses
              make me weep
          Kiss the heroine
                         Kill the creep

The credits, the edits
Houdini!  Whodunnits!
            Musicals that dance
                      And dancicals that muse

I'm filled with hope watching Cinemascope
                         Cause I'm no dope
        I love movies.

Funny! My dad used to take me to "the flicks" at the local movie theater - didn't matter too much what was on. It was always a double bill too.

Fun to read these clever words.
I always love the movies once I go or stop to sit long enough, but those times come more rarer than I need to admit. As the weather cools and I am indoors more often I am starting to think a movie would be lovely.

Wow! I've been away from blogging for too long and I've just now discovered your brand new look, Relyn! Cool! Love love love the font on your banner!! Is that your own writing?

And then to see the artwork of Maira Kalman - cool again! I'm a fan of her artwork and writing, too.

Anyhoo...I've been thinking of you these last few weeks. Hope the new school year is proving to be a good one. I have some catching up to do here on your blog now...

I love old movies. LOVE. When we went to Hollywood Studios, the Great Movie Ride was a blast! But these days there is very little that interests me. It seems like movie makers have gotten far less creative. Or maybe I have gotten far more picky. Either way, I still love the feel of the seats, the taste of the popcorn, the whole experience, but i have a hard time shelling out the cast for the exorbitant prices theaters now charge for wasting 2 hours of my life that I will never get back on a so-so movie.
