one of my favorite books

I started this post in October of 2009.  I have no idea why I didn't finish it then.  Tonight, though, I feel compelled to urge you to read this book.  Don't judge it by the movie - just rush right out and read this marvelous book.

I am a book hugger.  Tree hugger, too, but that's information for another post.  Anyway.  When I read a book I love, I always find myself hugging it tight when I turn the final page and close the book.  Jeffrey has always given me some gentle ribbing about my book hugging habit.  Till I caught him hugging this book after the first reading.  Yup.  My big, strong husband was caught hugging a children's book.  It's that good.

I've purchased at least 5 copies of this book. It's so good, I just keep buying it.  One for me, one for Sloane, one for my classroom, one for Jeffrey's classroom, and one to give away.  It's that good.

I shared this book with Sloane when she was 7, shortly followed by my 68 year old father-in-law. They both loved it.  It's my current book of the year recommendation in our school library.  I have put it into several students' hands.  Never met a person who didn't love it.  It's that good.

This is the most unique book I have ever read.  (It doesn't feel quite as unique now, since Selznick wrote a similar story, but...)  This book is 5 inches thick and you can read it in a little more than an hour.  I won't tell you why - just pick it up.  I dare you.  You won't be able to put it down,  It's that good.

Happy reading, friends.

OH, is this the book the movie Hugo was based on? Because I love, love, loved the movie. Now I really want to read the book. So magical . . . sigh.

I've never seen it or heard of it before. Sounds like a treasure. I'm intrigued, so on my book wish list it goes. Thanks for the suggestion.

Had not heard of this, went to look it up on Amazon and realized that this must be the book that Martin Scorsese based the movie Hugo on. Loved the movie, so lush.

I have seen the movie, but now you inspire me to read it. I think I should buy it and save for Desmond.

I've neither seen the movie or read the book. Hmmm. I must venture forward!
