Sunday Morning Poetry

Winter Love

I would like to decorate this silence,
but my house grows only cleaner
and more plain. The glass chimes I hung
over the register ring a little
when the heat goes on.
I waited too long to drink my tea.
It was not hot. It was only warm.

That is a lovely photo. I can feel the cold surround me by just looking at it.

Such an evocative photo, but also such an appropriate poem - I love the lean spareness of this time of year.

The idea of decorating the silence is a perfect image for my week. i've spent the week slowly removing Christmas decorations. I begin to notice to lack of ornamentation and desire to immediately fill it with something. Much as an attempt to decorate the silence instead of settling in and appreciating the beauty of the bones, the beauty of less, to marinate in the negative space. Thanks for introducing this poem to me.

That icy sprig is poetry
and the words you shared
are so vivid, I can feel their spine.
Thanks for sharing your artful
life,
Jennifer

I like that last line about the tea. It's delicate and subtle.

The image and the words go together so well...winter, quiet and peaceful.

Oldies, but Goodies
