August Break 11

moonglow
Today's prompt: peaceful

Ten days ago was the August super moon.  I have a long term love affair with the moon.  I love each of her phases and faces, but there is no denying the special beauty of a full moon.  The moon on August 10th was beyond beautiful.  It is commonly called a super moon, and that's a perfect name for it.

The super moon is a new term used to describe an extra large, extra bright full moon.  (more technical explanation here)  Astronomers call them perigee full moons.  The moon on August 10th was the closest and largest full moon of 2014.  It was also the closest the moon will be to Earth until September 28, 2015.

We have a beautiful view of the moon rising over the trees from our back deck each evening.  That Sunday found us all on the deck talking in hushed voices, playing with the dogs, and watching the moon rise.  I didn't have my tripod, but I couldn't resist trying to record it.  I spent a half hour playing with light and basking in her peaceful glow.  Oh, what an amazing creation He has given!
