Signs of San Francisco

I've often thought that one of the ways to capture the flavor of a place is to pay attention to the types of signs posted. Perhaps those signs demonstrate civic priorities. I think so, anyway. You decide. Here is a sampling of the signs of San Francisco.

What about you? Do you have any interesting signs around your town?

I love that they married fudge, ice cream and brownies! I'll take some of whatever ice cream that is!
But I have to say the last sign is my favorite. I love anything that makes art out of a plea for the planet.

What a great idea. I am a big fan of signs. One of my favorite ones was on a building in Venice. "You can stay under my umbrella". There is also one somewhere in Montreal that reads "I like you". Very simple, yet sweet love reminders.

These are great. I'll have to pay more attention to the signs around here. We could use the "Litter Me Not" sign on our road, although I don't think it would make much difference in the minds of those who choose to drop their garbage on us.

actually a photo I need to post is of a sign we found years ago at a flea market...
it hangs in my son's rooms and says...
"do not walk on ceiling"

love the photos !

Most great posters....love these, such fun! We don't have poster around town much, usually only in the summer months to announce music festivals and happenings, and then they're gone. Happy Day, Relyn :o) ((HUGS))

Those are some goodies!! Totally love them! I'm going to keep my eyes open. We are pretty boring in small towns. "Gone Fishing" is about as good as it gets. Oh, and the spelling errors!!

The first two win my heart and mind, hands down. And you know from my blog that I love taking pictures of signs too. Great minds and all that.

Some pretty funky signs in SF! As far as signs go in this little town, a stop sign would be the most interesting...and probably the ONLY one!

My favorite ones are the lucky one way sign and the legal marriage of the ice cream flavors. You have a great eye for great signs. Your looney gooney dance friend, Kt

I love signs! Was that you and Robin who obliterated the "No Parking" sign? Are you still circling the streets of Cole Valley, searching for parking, in your dreams, I mean, nightmares?

These are great examples of San Francisco and its "live and let live" philosophy!

these are great. my daughter is usually the one that notices funny and interesting signs. "we no longer rent cats" was an unusual one.
