I'm still at work. It's 6:30. School was out hours ago.
I should be busy and productive. I'm not. I'm putzing.
And piddling.
Do you piddle?
Sheesh! I wanna go home!! I don't wanna work!
So, go home, you say. Oh, but I can't. Because.
I do have a good reason, you know.
I have plans this weekend.
Birthday plans. Yes, I know. My birthday was back in September.
We believe in delayed gratification around here.
Big plans, though. And perfect timing.
Just when I am going nuts with an early-onset of Spring Fever.
Just when I think I can't take one more inside recess.
One more day of forty second graders in one room.
God, save me from inside recess. Give me grace.
Just exactly now - when I need it most - my weekend away arrives.
Jeffrey and I are off to explore a new-to-me small town.
We're off to visit bookstores where we've never been and thrift stores as-yet unexplored.
We're off to be alone to walk and talk and hold hands.
We're off to eat Indian and anything else that catches our fancy.
We're off to see a Neil Simon play I've never seen.
Do you know about my passion for theater? My love of Neil Simon?
This is a good present. And perfect timing.
Just when I need it most.
And, the weather is perfect. Perfect I tell you.
Life is so beautiful, I bet we get daffodils this weekend.
It's nearly spring and I have this thing with daffodils.
But first, I must work. I must. I really must.

Every time I see a daffodil I think of Wordsworth's poem and my dear departed friend who loved them so.

What a perfect weekend! I agree--I cannot wait to get outside! Spring fever has really hit me! I am all about extending celebrations long after they 'should' be over. Have a terrific trip and do share the loveliness of this new little town!
Enjoy! Then tell us all about it.
I hope you had a fabulous time on your delayed birthday weekend, Relyn. Can't wait to hear all about it!

That sounds perfectly wonderful Relyn! I hope the weekend was all you wanted it to be...and more...and FILLED with daffodils! Have a wonderful week ahead! (and thanks for the haiku comment- Iy's fun to be thought of...:)
Beautiful plans! Oh, and yes, I piddle.... And I'm often at school at 6, 6:30 and 7 when the janitor finally sweeps me out!
I hope you've had a wonderful weekend. It sure sounds like it will be. I don't piddle as much as I used to because I'm working again. Lots. Mixed blessings. But I love my weekends. That's when I piddle.
I love this post. I can so identify with wanting to go home . . . like right now. It's about 60 degrees outside and I'm stuck inside my office wanting to be outside with my camera . . . especially now that most of the snow is gone!!
Thanks Relyn for all your comments on my blog. Much appreciated.
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend! I'm sure you had a fantastic time :)
Oh I hope your weekend was positively blissful Relyn! Did you see any daffodils? Someone recently told me that the original name for them was daffydowndilly's. Isn't that cute?
And...how was it?! Hope it was most wonderful!
