From time to time I write a post that is straight out of my journal. Hence, SOOJ. Here's a moment I thought I would share with you. I took the picture above just after writing this.

Roaring River State Park
Cassville, Missouri
I didn't get to my morning pages this morning as Jeffrey had breakfast ready when Sloane woke me with a kiss. Then, we rushed out the door to head off on our adventure. I was with Sloane at the playground when Jeffrey called me to come over.
Now here I sit on a set of steps leading down to the water. Nearby I can hear the constant slosh of water eddying downsteam. A ways upstream I can hear the steady, low roar of a river aptly named. In all of the world there's nothing I find so peaceful as sitting outside near moving water with a pen in hand, a journal on my lap, and a camera in my pocket.
Oh. The page is becoming polka dotted as the rain falls harder and harder. What a day!
So, tell me. What makes you feel peaceful?

Rain on the window pane. We've had rain since Sunday evening. There's something about curling up under a warm blanket and just listening to it rain...gently.
Darkness outside my opened doors, the low lights of a neighbor's house spilling across her yard. Small noises of the night outside, silence sitting here with me in the house.
(And dear Relyn, I love that picture.)

I love the sound of rain. I rarely get to hear it. Maybe that's why. I also love the sound of the birds singing at sunset.
Sitting in my home, after a hard day's work, listening to my daughter practice guitar and watching my husband across the room from me. Usually, whatever is happening--Home = Peace.
I love the sound of trains at night. When I was young and lived in Europe, we traveled a lot by train, and often it was during the night. To this day, that sound gives me the most peace and contentment.
sitting outside...hearing the birds chirp away.
I enjoy being outside just listening ....
love when the world is off and Vivaldi is on...
love when there's silence, nothing to drown out the still small voice...
love solitude...
ohhhhhh....
now i want to get outside,
go for a walk,
backpack on...
journal, favorite pen, camera...
sigh.
you have inspired me.

My faith, family friends and Love and kindness
and Nature and every beautiful thing about Spring♥
Having grown up by the beach the ocean is always the first place I think of. But really, being anywhere in nature brings me peace.
Relyn,
Oh how I love how you spend some quality time journaling. It brought so many times back to me as well.
Some things that spell peaceful,
1. Sitting in the mountains and listening to the way the wind makes the trees speak so we can finally hear them.
2. Sitting in the middle of a pouring rain just sitting outside and feeling every beat of rain upon your head til they join together for a race down your hair.
3. Watching snow flakes swirl in a magical dance til they land just as softly as if a whisper.
4. Being near the ocean and hearing the pounding of the water as it breaks upon the rocks and then hushes once more as it backs away into the sea once more.

Peaceful. The Gypsy-Boy purring. The waves at the lake. Twilight at the lake. So much more.
So glad you had a lovely day!
I feel peaceful when walking through a garden or along a shore line at the beach.
i love this photo and your words.
standing a in a forest on a cliff side overlooking the ocean, the wind rustling the green leaves of red alder trees, the smell of the salty ocean tickling my nose.
Coming here certainly makes me feel peaceful! And lots more, too. Love that you love an armful of lilacs. They're coming now! Thank you again for your sweet comments. Big hug. xo – g
Oh yes! Your words make me feel so peaceful!! I also do love walking around the forest early in the morning, when it is still covered in dew and the doves are singing--perfect!
We've been having rain off & on all week... so that does sound peaceful, especially at night, the gentle tap on the windows. Peace is my morning cup of tea, my time on the mat for yoga & meditation, creating a new necklace with beautiful materials, dinner time with hubby, knitting a baby gift of my SIL, lighting a candle and saying a prayer... Lots of peaceful moments each day. :o) Thank you for all the very lovely comments you left at my place, Relyn! And yes, the quilts finished & in progress shown at my blog are of my making--I love quilting, just don't always have a lot of time for it--LOL! Wanted to take a moment now to wish you & yours a beautiful & blessed Easter holiday weekend coming up. :o) ((BIG HUGS))
That sounds like a perfect moment, Relyn. We have several canals 'round where I live here in NJ. I enjoy walking along the narrow footpaths, too.
That sounds perfectly refreshing!
For me, there's nothing quite like being wrapped up in a warm sweater while reading out on the deck on a crisp autumn day :)
thank you for this, I have not thought of "peaceful" today, and your writing is so descriptive
petting the dog...ice cream cone..brushing my hair...
raindrops always bring me peace. water, incense, music, my pen, and my camera. oh yes. a whole lotta love.
