Friday Faves

* A song: one of my favorites, "Drunk on the Moon" by Tom Waits

* Great Read: Yes, Chef by Marcus Samuelsson

* Absolute Best Moment: The moment today when I sold my first picture (see link below).  I hung up the phone, laughed like a loon, and promptly burst into tears.  God is so good!  He makes my dreams come true.

* Image of the Week: One of the Little Rock Nine, by Relyn Lawson

* DIY idea: a fun little project for your little ones

* Quote of the Week: "The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

* Funniest Moment: I was greeting the class as they came in the day after Halloween when one of my kids gave me an absolutely disgusted look and said, "Someone gave us toothpaste!"  She didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did.

* Another short film: beet cake by Tiger in a Jar

* A post that set me dreaming...

The Thinker, a sculpture in the DesMoines sculpture park.  Jeffrey, Sloane, and I had a marvelous time there last weekend.

Superb video (the best chocolate cake I ever had was a beet cake, with semisweet chocolate and heavy cream frosting...

Oh there are some good things here, especially selling your first picture. Congratulations! Also loved the quote from the book: “Stay invisible unless you’re going to shine.” And wow! The short film and the post on dreaming.

Relyn, I will look into that book recommendation! And your blog redesign is lovely. I love the soft colors. The toothpaste story is hilarious and I can just about picture that child's unhappy face. But the link to the old and now found little boxes...and the one with the butterfly...oh my, dreaming indeed.

OK, I'm just sorry--but handing out toothpaste on Halloween is kinda funny.

And . . . CONGRATULATIONS on selling a photo . . . the first of many, I'm certain!

Oldies, but Goodies
